Comments from Tsunku

Tsunku updated his blog about Platinum 9 DISCO concert tour which will be starting this Friday. He made a couple of comments about the girls and here's 3 that caught my eye.


久住が急に大人っぽくなってきました。
Just 2 days ago I was discussing with Steph about how much Koharu had changed in terms of looks and personality. I was talking to her about Koharu's sudden change of personality in 2008. Even though Koharu behaves childishly at times, but it was pretty obvious that she's maturing. She has became more reliable perhaps because of the fact that she has to take care of Eri when they go on radio and TV shows together. Looking at the 2009 Koharu now, she's different from the 2005 Koharu who was always in the Kirari character which I sometimes dislike. Even though I prefer the adult-ish Koharu, I don't want her to lose her forever genki and KY character which other members often jokingly poke fun of. I'd prefer her to be who she is and continue to bring joy and laughter to the group like what Gokkies had mentioned during a Resonant Live MC.

Its true. Eri possesses both cute-ness and intensity. The moment Eri steps onto the stage, she's a different person from the backstage Eri who fools around. She's serious about her performances and gives all her best like other girls do. Whether its singing or dancing, there's both cute-ness and intensity (or even, sexiness) in them. Just like what fellow Rokkies said, one can never get "used" to or sick of Eri's cute-ness. Even after being Eri's producer for 6 years, Tsunku still notices Eri's cute-ness.

"Gaki-san's calm voice."
So now that Tsunku commented on Gaki-san's voice, I decided to pay full attention to it. I'll say its soothing rather then calm. I played Gaki-san's Indigo Blue Love on repeat as I'm typing out this post. Its calming and makes one feel secured in this cold night (Except for those parts which she put extra stress on). Do try listening to Yowamushi with your eyes close. Its different.

Platinum 9 DISC

I'm an impatient person, so instead of waiting for my copy to arrive, I downloaded Platinum 9 DISC from the tracker. Here's a short review for the new songs in the album, with meaningless one word header to describe the songs.

01. SONGS
"Song"
I had a hard time trying to tell Hammy that SONGS is a song the other day, lol. Not a big fan of this song. Too much of effects added only make it sound techno-ish to me. Reina sounds great though.

03. Ame no Furanai Hoshi Dewa Aisenai Darou
"♪"
This song makes me wanna sing along. Album version > Aichan & Reina's solo lines version. I prefer this song to be sang by everyone rather then having solo lines for Aichan and Reina. It loses its meaning when its sang solo, other then for the couple of lines that are in Chinese. Most suitable for the last track in concerts.


04. Take off is now!
"Sexy"
An awesome song which was performed in Resonant Live which totally stunned me. There are no limits to Aichan's sexiness. After repeating this song several times, I realized Reina somehow fits in the feel of the song too even though I thought it was a mistake to let her be in this song at first when I was watching the performance in Resonant Live.

06. Watashi no Miryoku ni Kizukanai Donkan na Hito
"Sugoi!"
I underestimated her I guess. The album version sounds way better then the one in Resonant Live.

07. Guruguru Jump
"Odd"
Like what the girls said, this song just pops out out of a sudden in the album. Compared to the other tracks of the album (With the exception of Mikan) its one that gives the cute feel. Koharu and JunLin go guru guru and melting everyone's hearts with their cute-ness. No need to feel painful if you are, Junjun. You're perfectly fine in the trio and can easily pull it off even though you're 21.


09. Jounetsu no Kiss wo Hitotsu
"Gaki-san ♥"
I repeated it over and over again, but I just can't seem to be able to pull myself away from Gaki-san's voice. Despite being with the said-to-be best 2 vocalists of Morning Musume, Gaki-san totally outshined them and took advantage of her distinctive voice to give the song a sexy feel. Both Aichan and Reina were awesome too, but I well..I'm sick of hearing them sing, thanks to Tsunku's constant "The lead must be Reina/Aichan" theory.
I wonder how Take off is now! and Jounetsu no Kiss Hitotsu will sound like if Reina was replaced by Eri.


10. It's You
"Epic"
I've been crazy over this song ever since it was played on Konusapi. Is that really Sayu? 5 star'd for the great improvement then! Somehow, I can already picture how the dance will look like.


12. Kataomoi no Owari ni
"Therapy"
I'm not surprised why Sayu is hooked on this song. Its sweet and soothing. Eri sounds pleasant as usual, displaying what she had learned in these 6 years. Listening to this when I'm stressed out by school work will certainly heal me like the way it healed Sayu. My favorite song in this album of course.
(Honestly, I prefer「100kai no Kiss」to「Kataomoi no Owari ni」. The gentleness in Eri's 100kai no kiss performance warms the cockles of my heart, while「Kataomoi no Owari ni」 is..well, a little different.)

I have to admit that I'm a really positive person who can't seem to be able to see what's so bad about the album. I don't know much about music so I can't give much comments in terms of melody, vocals and etc. But I'm satisfied with this album and officially announce it as my favourite Morning Musume album now. Seems like 2009 will indeed be a good year.

Now lets look forward to Platinum 9 DISCO.
Do hope that there are new MC topics rather then just Junjun and Koharu faking an argument. I pretty much got sick of it since they lost the intensity in their arguments. And no more quizes for Rokkies. Its boring. If it weren't for SayuEri's amusing answers, the whole MC can be removed. Perhaps free talks like what Gokkies did for Resonant Live will be good.

Host : An alien told you you're an alien?
Eri : It told me "You're an alien right?". It seems like I'm from a fourth dimension world.
Host : You?
Eri : Yes, me.
Koharu : Eh? Where and when did that happen? I'm pretty curious about it.
Eri : (The alien) was my friend and suddenly I just got to know that its an alien and he/she told me "You're an alien too".
Koharu : Bring me along when you meet the person/alien!

There were several occasions whereby Eri admits to be an alien too. Now, do you believe in aliens?

Eri becomes a voice actress!

Just hours ago I was blogging about how I wish Eri would be able to go on variety shows along with Sayu since I miss her. She don't have a radio show to herself, and now that Yorosen is ending, I doubt we'll get to see her much on TV unless there's a new Morning Musume release and she's arranged to promote the product.

But just as I was checking 2ch earlier on,

OnDiet : ..Wtf is this? *reads* "Voice : Kamei Eri"?! *checks title* Jewel Pet?! WOW!
(Even though I had no idea what Jewel Pet was, I just wow'd)

Eri will be voice over-ing an anime character in Jewel Pet!
This is one of the best news I've heard in 2009!
I'm not a big fan of Animes though, I don't watch Kirarin or Onegai My Melody even though some of the Morning Musume members are dubbing it, but its Eri. I just have to watch it isn't it? I believe Sayu has emphasied enough on how gentle Eri's voice is and fans on H!O forum have went crazy discussing about how sweet and pleasant our little turtle sounds, so I guess I don't have to go into details for that part.

I'm as excited as anyone else now and looking forward to 4/5 for the first episode of this anime. I'm curious about which character Eri will be dubbing, I hope she's in the main role (Of course)

Putting that aside, it seems like this year will be a SayuEri year for the SayuEri fans. Both of them got themselves a solo song each for Platinum 9 DISC. Sayu gets lots of solo lines in Naichau Kamo C/W, Yowamushi. Sayu appearing on variety shows while Eri getting a shot at Anime. They are both involved in Ojigi Shape Up as well as the LA trip. Also, lets not forget about the single that'll be released in May. It looks like a great first half of 2009 to me, even though the girls may be really busy preparing for the upcoming events. I do hope they get lots of rest too and not fall sick. That reminds of me Maasa. Maasa will not be able to turn up in today's HaroTen Party due to a flu.

Alright enough of the babblings about how happy I am. Lets all get pumped up for Platinum 9 DISC that will be released in 4 days time and we'll finally get to listen to a proper quality and length of 「Kataomoi no Owari ni」♥ .

Konya mo Usachan Peace 2009/03/10

Here's some short summaries for certain parts of the show.

During Sayu's Actress corner, one of the phrases was "Sonna". One of the situation was "When Kamei Eri-chan looks like she's lying"
After Sayu's "Sonna" she immediately adds on that Eri has never lied to her and she moves on straight away to the next situation. Just by doing this, Sayu has certainly proven how much she trusts Eri.

What middle names will Sayu give to the members if she were to give them one? (Sender's example : Michishige Lovely Sayumi, Kamei My Pace Eri)
• Kamei Soothing Voice Eri. Sayu listens to Kataomoi no Owari ni every morning and says that Eri's gentle voice heals her.
• Takahashi Has-a-sense-of-pitch-for-sure Ai. Aichan being the humble Aichan we all know, when Sayu comments that Aichan has a good sense of pitch, Aichan will reply with a "Nah!". Even without an intro of the song to guide her along, Aichan is able to sing with the correct key right from the start of the song.

What if Sayu has to go with another member to a physic spot as its a test of courage, who does Sayu wants to accompany her?
• Sayu will want to be with Junjun since Junjun is not even afraid of haunted houses also, she's tall and she looks like she's one who will protect Sayu and tell her everything is okay.

Sayu's explanations
• Why not Aichan? When Aichan goes to haunted house, a not-Aichan voice will result. In fact, it don't even sound like a voice that'll be made by a female. Sayu compares the voice Aichan makes to a beast, lol.
• Gaki-san and Reina are pretty much a coward.
• Eri has more trouble going into a haunted house then Sayu.

Sayu is appearing on variety shows now adays on her own or along with Yaguchi. Even though Sayu looks uncomfortable in some shows (IMO), I think its a great start for her path to a variety idol.

Lets look back at Sayu's appearance in Otona no Gakuryoku Kentei QUIZ Special episode which broadcasted this year start. A primary 1 question, about tadpoles.

From a tadpole,
the OO will first grow out,
next it'll be the OO,
the OO will then disappear,
and it'll become an adult frog.

Sayu's answer

Gaki-san : Dramas and novels.
Eri : When a Negitoro came instead of a Negitoro Maki.

Explanations for their answers

Gaki-san chose Disney but the obsession with Disney has started some time ago. Gaki-san loves it so much that she can visit Disneyland up to 4 times per month. She collects Disney's goods and watches at least a Disney movie everyday. Gakisan mentioned that she likes Stitch. Perhaps cosplaying Stitch would get Gaki-san's attention.


Eri's "suika" was actually su-ika (Vinegar squid) and not the JR train which the host thought it was. Neither is it watermelon which is also pronounced as suika. Eri earned a smack from the host for that. The day before the recording, Eri drank Rice vinegar. Instead of using vinegar for dishes, Eri drinks them as snacks. Its the first time the host heard of a 20-year-old girl addicted to rice vinegar.

The moment it was Gaki-san birthday in 2008, she has a toast with I-don't-know-who because she didn't mention any names.


Host : Have you made one?
Eri : No I haven't but I always thought that it would be easier to get a credit card once I turn 20. But my parents, members and the staffs around me all disapproved of it saying that having one will only cause me to spend money unwisely.
Host : I think I remember being told something like that too. But when you do make one you'll just have to pay for it later so..
Eri : Yes. So I was thinking maybe I should just make one without telling anyone.
Gaki-san : No you really shouldn't! It'll be too dangerous.
Nanny Gaki-san worrying over Eri-chan again.


Gaki-san : I think its pretty obvious that she's quite pokepoke and needs people to take care of her but unexpectedly, after turning 20, there are 9 members in Morning Musume now and she'll pay attention to things that are happening. If she's with her juniors, she'll take up the responsibility of a senior. Perhaps its because she turned 20.
Host : You're the youngest child?
Eri : Nope, I'm the eldest daughter.
Host : You're the eldest daughter?! But you're like the youngest child! You have a younger sister?
Eri : Yes, she is more mature.


Eri : She looks after people, especially me. Perhaps its because we're of the same age and we know what one another is thinking about that is why she'll notice is I'm in a pinch and comes forward to help me immediately as my senior.
Its good to hear that Eri is aware of Gaki-san's special attention towards her, heh.


How adorable.
Gaki-san : She's slow in doing everything. For me I'm the kind who wants things to be done quickly. And as Kame, even today, even though we were given the details (time) of this show, she only appeared at the very last second. Even the staffs asked me "Excuse me..have Kamei-san reached the studio?"
And apparently, when Eri reached the studio she didn't know where to go and such.


Gaki-san who looks like she's always listening to what people are talking about, when she answers with a "yes", people would think that she really understood what was going on but according to Eri, its all an act. They gave an example whereby the staffs were giving out instructions. Gaki-san replied with a "yes" and after that, Eri being Eri, ran up to Gaki-san to ask Gaki-san what were the instructions they were given. Gaki-san who in reality, wasn't listening at all, admitted that she wasn't listening and Eri poked fun at her. Eri finds it fun to poke fun at Gaki-san.


When reading novels and watching dramas, Gaki-san sometimes get too into them and gets touched by the story.


Eri : I ordered for 3 Negitoro Maki but they served me one Negitoro instead.
Gaki-san : Just eat it then!
Eri : It was actually a delivery that I called for..and at that time it was like "I might cry".
Host : That's so cute! We'll forgive you for that! *Shows the melting expression*
Lol, Eri's "I might cry" stories are just..too cute. Getting upset over small little things like mixing up sugar and salt at the age 20, in a way, its amazing.

Promotions for Naichau Kamo, its the same old Mariko story, so lets skip it and move on to the backstage stories! :D


It wasn't an easy recording for the PV. During the danceshot version, the leader of Morning Musume, Takahashi Ai-chan tore her fishnet stockings. The Aichan that had the cool image in Eri's mind..unexpectedly had a hole in her stockings..
..I bet that shattered the Eri's dreams, lol.
But Aichan wasn't the only one who tore her stockings, according to Gaki-san, most of them changed their stockings a couple of times due to the holes.
Perhaps this explains why they didn't retake the danceshot version despite the mistakes the 3 girls made.
